Made a stop at my parents for the weekend before I head off to Paris. My mom asked my why I wanted to study monasteries then promptly handed me four books all marked out with research on solitude.
I fly out for a two month study in Paris in one week. Classes all week about French architectural history and meetings on independent study. Somehow I have to make a syllabus today and figure out how to read 6 books speedily.
As odd as it sounds, I have felt in the last month that Milwaukee is where God wants me. I have no clue if it is just for this period in my life, school, or if it will mean the indefinite future. I am ok with this. I have come to strongly believe that there is something about this city that has captured me through the friends I have gained and the time spent wandering its streets.
Traveling to France for two months… To take my DSLR along or JUST my tlr? These are the choices I have to make. I will be sketching a large amount and also planned on some photos from my iPhone.

In a few short weeks I will be:
Sleeping in a convent designed by Le Corbusier.
Stoking a fire-burning stove in a Wicklow Mountain hermitage.
Visiting one of France’s oldest Carthusian monasteries.
Scaling the cliffs of an ocean outcropping to visit a 6th century Abbey.
